FAQ

Questions we actually get.

Answered plainly. If you don't see what you're looking for, the consultation is the better format — Dr. Stowers answers questions differently in person.

About Regenerative Medicine

What is regenerative medicine, exactly?

Regenerative medicine uses your own biology — specifically, concentrated healing factors drawn from your blood or bone marrow — to stimulate repair in damaged tissue. Instead of masking pain or removing the problem surgically, it gives the body a direct dose of what it needs to heal from the inside out.

What's the difference between PRP and the advanced (BMAC) protocol?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is drawn from your blood, concentrated by centrifuge, and injected into the target area. It's the right entry point for early-to-moderate joint damage, tendon issues, and inflammation. The advanced protocol uses bone marrow aspirate (BMA), which contains a richer mix of regenerative cells and is the stronger tool for more significant degeneration or cases where PRP alone hasn't been enough. The right choice depends on your imaging and indication — Dr. Stowers will tell you which one fits your situation.

Is this the same as stem cell therapy?

No. Regenesis does not offer stem cell therapy, which involves externally sourced or manipulated cells. Every protocol at Regenesis uses your own biology — drawn the same day, prepared in-office, and returned to the joint. The term 'stem cell' is often used loosely in marketing; we don't use it because it doesn't accurately describe what we do.

How is this different from what other clinics offer?

The treatment itself — PRP, bone marrow aspirate — is offered at many clinics. The difference at Regenesis is the physician. Dr. Stowers has 30+ years of regenerative medicine experience, which means the assessment, the indication, and the ultrasound-guided placement are done by someone who has been refining this process since before most of the industry had a name for it. The physician is the variable that determines outcomes.

Candidacy

How do I know if I'm a candidate?

The short answer: you find out at the consultation. Dr. Stowers reviews your history, imaging, and anatomy before any protocol is proposed. Some patients are excellent candidates. Some are not — and we will tell you which one you are before any money changes hands. The willingness to say no is what makes a yes meaningful.

I've had surgery before. Can I still be treated?

In many cases, yes. Post-surgical patients can be strong candidates depending on what was done and what the current anatomy looks like. The consultation will determine whether regenerative therapy can meaningfully help your specific situation.

What if I've already tried PRP somewhere else and it didn't work?

Results from PRP elsewhere don't necessarily predict results here. Outcomes depend heavily on preparation quality, the concentration used, and the precision of placement. If prior PRP underdelivered, we'll evaluate whether the indication still warrants another attempt — or whether the advanced protocol would be more appropriate.

Is there an age limit?

No hard cutoff. Candidacy is determined by anatomy and imaging, not age. We treat active adults across a wide range — the common thread is that they're not ready to accept surgical referrals or long-term medication as the default answer.

What to Expect

What happens at the first appointment?

The first visit is a consultation — roughly 30 minutes with Dr. Stowers. He reviews your history and imaging, performs an assessment, and tells you whether you're a candidate. If you are, you'll see the protocol on paper before committing: number of sessions, spacing, recovery expectations, and cost. Nothing proceeds without your explicit agreement.

Is the treatment done the same day as the consultation?

Typically no. The consultation is a separate visit to determine candidacy and build the protocol. Treatment is scheduled once you've reviewed and agreed to the plan.

What does the treatment itself involve?

For PRP: a small blood draw in the office, centrifugation to concentrate the platelets, and ultrasound-guided injection into the precise anatomical target. For the advanced protocol, a quick collection from your hip is added — well-tolerated, about 30 minutes. Most patients return to normal activity within 24–48 hours.

How many sessions will I need?

For most joint indications, the clinical standard is a series of three injections. Single sessions are available for acute concerns or maintenance. The Elite Joint Preservation Program spans 12 months with multiple touch points. Your protocol is individualized — Dr. Stowers will specify what's appropriate for your anatomy and goals.

How long until I see results?

Regenerative medicine is not immediate relief — it's a biological process. Most patients begin noticing improvement over 4–12 weeks as the tissue responds. Full results from a series typically appear at 3–6 months. This is the difference between resolving a problem and managing one.

Aesthetics

Do you offer Botox or fillers?

No. Regenesis is a regenerative-only aesthetics practice. No Botox, no fillers, no paralytics. Every aesthetic treatment uses your own biology or supports your skin's natural systems — RF microneedling, the Regenesis Facial, regenerative chemical peels, PRP for the face, red light therapy, and TMJ Release & Face Sculpting.

Who performs the aesthetic treatments?

Christina Anduiza-Roberts, our licensed medical esthetician. PRP for the face is prepared by Dr. Stowers on-site. All treatments are performed at 920 Margaret St. — in-person only.

What's the Regenesis Facial?

A signature facial that combines lymphatic drainage, gua sha, and skin-focused manual techniques — designed to stimulate circulation and support the skin's own renewal process. It's $149 and a good entry point for patients new to regenerative aesthetics.

Pricing & Logistics

Do you accept insurance?

No. Regenesis is a cash-pay practice. Regenerative medicine protocols are not covered by insurance, which also means we are not beholden to what insurance allows — we recommend what is clinically appropriate for each patient.

Is financing available?

Yes. Financing options are available and can be discussed at the consultation.

Where are you located?

920 Margaret St., Jacksonville, FL. We see patients by appointment.

Do you offer telehealth?

Regenerative medicine requires in-person treatment — you can't perform an ultrasound-guided injection over video. However, initial consultations may be conducted remotely for patients traveling from outside Jacksonville. Contact us to discuss.
